What I Did: followed the recipe exactly. I could tell something was amiss pretty quickly. The dough was really dry and never really came together. In the end, it tasted like the dough we used in fourth grade to make relief maps with some cinnamon thrown on for good measure.

Next Time I Will: I am going to try it again. This recipe had some holes in it and was way to dry. I am going to find a more reliable original source that uses more moisture. I am also going to make a glaze for it, because everything is better with more sugar.

Oh my Gosh! I tried this same recipe, also pinned from Pinterest. It looks so good and easy! Mine turned out JUST like yours. A sort of braided blob. Mine was too dry as well.

I’ve come to realization that Martha Stewart is one of the few reliable sources for good baking recipes. Most others I do seem to fail miserably. Those test kitchens are doing something right!

Thanks for sharing! I love your website!

Re Nina: And America’s Test Kitchen! I’ve recently come to believe that those trusted sources are where we should be turning for staple recipes.

Ok, I pinned this too. Will have to make some adjustments before I try it now! Lol!

I tried this too… I’m actually quite good at baking but this went very wrong indeed. Mine did vaguely resemble a ring, but most of the filling ran out onto the baking paper and the braid was not visible at all. I am going to try this again, though, but I tink I’ll stick to my usual cinnamon wreath recipe for the dough 😉

I actually pinned this, and made it as well! (Several times) the dough is dry, so I always add more milk just to get it to come together…the first time I made it, I got lazy and instead of making a pretty dough wreath or whatever, made regular cinnamon rolls… My (verryyyy picky) hubby loved them!! He says it’s the best breakfast I make…other than the dough needing a little more liquid, it is actually a good recipe lol.

AAAHHH I made it too SOOOO many times. They are the nicest smelling baked goods I’ve ever made, and the dough turns out super soft and fluffy, it never dries out. I definitely agree with adding more liquid. Also, once they are baked and still super hot, I glaze them with powdered sugar melted in hot water, let it dry, and they just turn out fabulous!

    :)

Why not just use a bought can of crescent roll dough to do this?
