What I Did: In my defense, the Pinterest picture that inspired me does not link one to actual directions- it’s merely a picture. However, that did not deter me. Brownie mix, caramel, pretzels, salt, got it.
In hindsight, as my 12-year-old pointed out, I should have perhaps cooked the brownie mix before covering the whole mess with caramel. Maybe then the caramel wouldn’t have seeped into the batter and chemically reacted with it, causing a goopy mess that refused to fully cook or be cut into nice square shapes.
My Result:
Next Time I Will: FOR THE LOVE, bake the brownies first. And then, never try a Pin that doesn’t have specific directions.

Your salted caramel brownies look reasonable - I couldn’t even feed mine to my family! AND it was a lot of work laying the pretzels in all those lines! HYSTERICAL!
Wow. People have less common sense than I thought. And I have them minimal credit before this site. Lord help us all.
ya; I made these but wouldn’t make them again-way too much going on there. Too many pretzels to begin with. Waste of time!
I have made these before, they turn out quite well if you cook the brownies first, but I thought that was just common sense lol, like adding icing to a cake after its cooked and cooled 😛
I found instructions for this on another site and made them as directed. They were delicious and I won a prize for them in our office bake sale! Only hard part is getting the batter spread out over the pretzels. Of course, the Carmel goes on AFTER brownies are baked and cooled. I recommend using parchment for less messy serving. Yummy result!
I did these and everybody loved them. They came out exactly like the ones on pinterest.
I busted the pretzels up into small pieces and added them to the brownie batter. Mostly because I was afraid they would be hard to cut through the whole pretzels……AND I am OCD and like perfect little squares. Then I baked the brownies. Once they were half way cool I covered in caramel. Once the caramel set I sprinkled the salt on. Good luck if you ever try them again!! They were waaaaaayyyyyy too good to miss out on.
PS: LOVE what you do here with all the fails. I come here all the time!!
