What I Did: My mom always makes the BEST Christmas cookie plates! Her cookies are delicious and always well presented. Last year we decided to change it up a bit and I found this pin. It looked simple enough and I was so sure this would be a huge success and would add a nice element to her cookie plates. Unfortunately, mine ended up looking like globs of chocolate and even the “prettiest” ones weren’t fit to distribute! I followed the instructions, and tried using a piping bag, but evidently there is a little skill involved with that 🙂 When I couldn’t get the piping bag to work, started to “drizzle” the chocolate with a fork, but that failed miserably, too.
My Result:

Next Time I Will: These tasted amazing, they just didn’t look great. I don’t have the patience to make fine art out of my deserts, so I would probably just skip the “drizzle” step the next time 🙂

It’s best to drizzle chocolate with a toothpick, and to spread the drizzle beyond the intended food object. If you try to go back and forth on the food item, you end up clumping the drizzle together instead of getting thin, neat, straight lines.
We made these for Valentine’s Day. It took me a while and a few utensils to get the drizzle right, lol. We ended up getting amazing results by dipping a wisk in the almond bark and swirling it in the air slightly over the balls.
The easiest way to get a nice drizzle is to use a squeeze bottle. You need to get your hand a bit high over the intended target. This helps in getting a thinner drizzle. I make candy all the time and this meathod is quick and easy with beautiful results. Just dont squeeze the bottle too much or you will end up with a mess.
Mine turn out like this every year, but that sure doesn’t stop me. They’re too delicious. And I sprinkle decorative sugar and chocolate sprinkles on them before the chocolate hardens, so that it looks like I meant to do that.
