What I Did: Easy, right? A basic chocolate chip cookie recipe that you add hot cocoa mix to. It said you could substitute marshmallow bits for marshmallow minis. Did that, yet the marshmallows just ended up looking like a bird pooped on my cookies. Tried to make them for a Christmas cookie exchange, so after the 3rd dozen was still looking like more than one partridge in a pear tree got to my baking disaster, I called it a night. Some of them were edible, so my kids love them, but I ended up just doing 6 dozen old fashioned spritz cookies. Lesson learned: Stick with what you know! Especially for an exchange!
My Result:

Next Time I Will: Maybe not use the mini marshmallows at all- try with the marshmallows that were in the hot chocolate mix! I just thought they would be too hard, but maybe they would do just fine!
For once I believe you did not do anything wrong. If you look closely at the picture, the chocolate and the mini marshmallows were added AFTER the cookies were taken out of the oven. Look at the consistency. The chocolate and marshmallows are “floating” on top of the cookie. I would try them again, maybe they will look better.
agreed, it looks like those Kiss cookies that the chocolate is inserted while they’re still soft and fresh. Definitely not worth the effort for a mass-swap.
marshmallow bits are not the same as miniature marshmallows
