I’m wondering if some of the problem might have been your paint. We had a pumpkin decorating contest at work and one of my co-workers did a pair of good and evil minions pumpkins and they’re the cutest things ever. My black pumpkin spider was a little trickier to paint, but with good acrylic paint and patience to allow it to dry, it worked out.
But hey-even the fails are fun. 🙂 And I’ll bet you’re one heck of a cook!!
