What I Did: This year I wanted to take my Christmas baking to the next level. My family loves when I make cake pops, so when I came across this seemingly simple idea of reindeer cake pops, I was thrilled! I thought, “wow, you mean I can just throw some eyes and pretzels on top of my regular cake pops, and create CUTE AND DELICIOUS REINDEER FACES!? DONE.” I was off to the store to purchase eyes, pretzels, and red candy noses faster than I could consider the reality of my artistic ability.
My mom and I baked and dipped our chocolate cake pops per usual, and they tasted great. It was decorating them that was the challenge. The eyeballs weren’t right, they were too large and some of them slid around after they were placed on the pop. The result was some creepy, scared, and constipated looking reindeer.
My Result:

Next Time I Will: Buy smaller candy eyeballs, dry the cake pops on sticks in a Styrofoam box, and find someone with a steady hand and great deal of patience to assemble the reindeer faces.

this is barely a fail
You reindeer look adorable! I love the variety of faces you have on your cookie sheet!
Often the cookie cutter sameness of some projects is not always the best way!
I think Emily is being too hard on herself, these are pretty good. Couple of minor suggestions:
Yes, use smaller eyes.
Let the chocolate cool 90% of the way on the POPS, then use a dot of melted chocolate to adhere the decorations. They won’t slide around, then.
Turn the pops so that the decorations are pointing straight up while you let the dot cool to additionally keep them from sliding. Basically, use gravity to adhere them in place.
Aww, I think they’re cute!
Not a fail but a learning experience.
I think with JoDa’s suggestions these could be an epic win.
Yours are really cute!
I dont think these are a fail. I would forget the stick and go with them i love the way they look.
I actually love these with the giant eyeballs. Gives them personality!
I’m so sorry. They are a fail, but they are hysterically cute and I would eat them and so would all of my kids. 🙂
