What I Did: I thought that this would be an easy way to make a spooky dessert. It said sugar cookie fingers, right? So I bought some pre-made sugar cookie dough at the store and painstakingly sculpted fingers and knuckles out of them. They were beautiful! And then I put them in the oven.. and they went downhill quickly. I put some sprinkles on them and served them anyway - with a good story!

My Result:

Next Time I Will: I would probably make the sugar cookie dough to their recipe - or maybe even try a shortbread that doesn’t spread as much.

Well if it helps, they *kinda* look like “water bears” (tardigrade)

Yeah, reading the FAQs at the bottom of the post, either add more flour to the store-bought stuff or make them skinnier so they’re the right size when they spread.
Would it help to put the shaped fingers in the fridge before baking?

You could also do a savoury pretzel-type finger, then have ketchup/tomato sauce for dipping, which will look like blood 🙂

I’ve done green witch finger cookies for my nieces. I bought a metal witch finger candy mold to use. It’s a million times easier to use.

I swear, I just get annoyed when the “Next Time I Will” section says “Follow their recipe.” Ugh.

agreed…why even bother if you aren’t gonna follow the instructions?

I actually bought a finger-shaped cookie/cake pan that cooks finger shaped cookies that look remarkably like the original pinner’s. I got mine at Goodwill, but have seen them in the Halloween section at Target and Micheal’s. Maybe that would be easier?
