What I Did: When I saw this idea on Pinterest, I really wasn’t sure why anyone would care if their pots were tarnished or not. I’m no Martha Stewart, so I really can’t imagine why anyone would want to spend time cleaning copper pots. I figure pots work just as well if they’re tarnished or not. I had some expired ketchup in the fridge that was going to get thrown away so I figured why not? I’d give it a try. Just put ketchup on the copper pan. It starts working as soon as the ketchup touches the pan. You can rub it lightly with a sponge. Wipe and rinse off. Easy!

You can also use vinegar and salt (the two main ingredients in Ketchup to clean tarnished copper. As with the ketchup, be sure to wash, rinse and dry before setting them away.
Clean and polish the copper bottoms of pans all you want—they will just tarnish and get dark again, soon. My wife and I have been married for over 42 years. We are using copper bottom pans that we obtained as a wedding gift. Bottoms are tarnished but the soup gets hot and the ham steaks fry nicely. I did polish the bottoms once about 30 years ago. No motivation to polish them again.

You do understand the point of this website, right? It’s not actually Pinterest… it’s Pinterest FAIL. It’s not for posts about Pinterest replications that worked out nicely. Was truthfully baffled at this post, and why it was here at all.

I know there are certainly going to be people who disagree, but I actually like having some wins on the site. Sometimes it’s nice to know the things that turned out really well! I do the Gibson Tuck hairstyle, found on Pinterest, several times a week and it has been life-changing for me (well, as life-changing as a hairstyle can be). It’s nice to have a place where people share those things!
The plum sauce from the little sachets you get when you order egg rolls at a Chinese restaurant also work well to clean copper.
Was a huge win for me, I cleaned all my copper this way last week. Loved it.
Um, but here’s the thing: ounce or ounce, ketchup is *much* more expensive than copper cleaner.
