What I Did: I’m usually a pretty good baker (honestly!) so I decided to make my daughters’ teachers a Christmas gift of some festive shortbread. I followed the recipe to a T, so I have no idea what happened. They just melted into puddles in the oven. They still tasted good, though!

My Result:

Next Time I Will: I have no idea. 🙁

Did you use melted butter instead of softened butter? That can make the cookies go super thin and crispy.

If she did follow the recipe “to a T” then, no. the recipe calls for “1 cup butter, cubed (and cold)”

Always chill the dough before using, because working it into a dough melts the fat, causing it to spread thin while baking. 15 minutes in the fridge before baking will give you the desired results.
