What I Did: The kids wanted to make brownie cups for an ice-cream treat. We mixed all the ingredients, covered the pans in Crisco, placed it on top, and waited. Well, the outcome was disappointing. Still, it was yummy, just different than expected.

My Result:

Next Time I Will:
Maybe not try it again.

I wonder if it would work if you cooked the brownies as normal almost all the way through and then put the pan on top of it to finish.

Or, in other words, followed the instructions on the original recipe 😉 Definite user error here.
The original recipe states a specific batter, which I’m not familiar with as they don’t sell it in Europe, but I wonder if a different brand was used and if it makes a difference?

It doesn’t look to me as if the first, the original one could really really work all that well… mine would certainly have looked like yours, :-). But maybe Neriad’s suggestion would work?

As long as they were yummy - that is all that matters! Plus, I am sure you and your children got a big chuckle from this “adventure”.

Aww that sucks. It happens to the best of us. But from what I understand from your explanation you didn’t really follow the instructions. She cleary says to bake it as instructed and then when you take it out to immidiatly press it with the other cupcake pan. Maybe this is where things went wrong?

    Better luck next time! 🙂
