What I Did: The glue stuck to the balloon.

Next Time I Will: try not to get it on the balloon.
In the pinned instructions they use Glad plastic cling wrap OVER the inflated balloon and UNDER the jute wrapping secured with rubber bands. They also used a fabric stiffener, not glue, and LOTS of it to completely saturate the jute wrapping (immersed in a bucket of it). You then hang it to dry. This can take days or even weeks to fully dry.
I’ve dome something similar using cheese cloth soaked in fabric stiffener draped over balloons to make ghosts. First time, fail, second time it worked.
