What I Did: A whopper is defined as either something exceptionally big or a gross untruth. This cake was both an epic failure and a gross untruth. Dry cake and a frosting recipe that you would have to make to believe - a ratio of 1 stick of butter to 1/2 cup of powdered sugar! Not to mention, an ungodly amount of liquid. I had to use two pounds of powdered sugar to make it somewhat spreadable. My husband loves chocolate cake and my dad loves Whoppers candies, but both of them told me to never make this cake again.
My Result:

Next Time I Will: Would not make this cake again. Not only did I have to go to four grocery stores to find the malt powder, the taste was barely discernible. As mentioned above, the buttercream must be changed.

If you just want to recreate how the cake looks and don’t necessarily need that particular triple-malt flavor, you could just get a box of chocolate cake mix and can of frosting from the store, bake the cake and frost it as normal, then press crushed candies into the frosting. No need for complicated recipes and obscure ingredients that are hard to find. The cake would still look impressive and taste good.
