Next Time I Will: I would use a smoother shoe the suede texture made it impossible to paint.

What I Did: I saw this ADORABLE little ghost family on Pinterest one day, while searching for Halloween DIY decorations for the house. I really can’t stand the super scary, creepy decorations sold at stores, and this little ghost family was just precious! The instructions didn’t sound too hard, and required minimal materials. So I set forth to the grocery store to purchase the cheese cloth and the cornstarch. I already had a styrofoam ball to help shape the top of the ghost, as well as felt in my craft stash, so I was all set.

The cornstarch paste mixture REEKED, I cannot lie. Also, working the cheesecloth, which is super delicate, into this thick nasty mixture almost made me think we were about to have a Pin FAIL. But after about 30 minutes of careful manipulation, I had coated the cloth and draped it over the styrofoam tower.

It had to dry overnight and I was skeptical the next morning that it would come loose from the styrofoam but LO AND BEHOLD HALLELUJAH, this Pin was a complete success! :) I couldn’t believe how cute these came out.

I made a tall ghost for my husband, a slightly shorter one for myself, a little one for my 3 year old daughter, and a tiny one for my 1 year old son. Once the felt eyes were glued on, I added some personal touches to each ghost. A bowtie for the hubs, eyelashes for me, a bow for my daughter, and a long discarded paci for my son! CUTENESS!

One chalkboard sign later and we had a great personal Halloween decoration for the front porch.

The only thing I would say is that these are NOT reusable. After Halloween we had one humid night and they collapsed, but that’s okay! They were cheap and easy. I will be making these every year.

My Result:

Next Time I Will: I would use more cornstarch paste on the ghosts to make them not quite so delicate. Also, double up on the cheesecloth layers to add more sturdiness.

Win: Pancake Puffs

Posted under Win

[Editor's note: I almost didn't post this, because of the changes made to the recipe. After another reading though, I realized that the Win here is cooking pancakes in a muffin tin. What do you think?]

What I Did:

I chose this project because it seemed fun and easy. And it was! I just need to work out the kinks in this vegan mix for next time.

I made variations to this recipe because I am not vegan. So I added dairy butter and milk. They were a little too chewy because I ran out of flour and thought I could just add a tad more baking powder to even it out. Sadly no.

I also ran out of chocolate chips so I used different jams (which were yummy!) and banana to fill the batter.

My Result:

Next Time I Will: Next time I should also add eggs like, y’know.. a NORMAL PANCAKE in a cupcake tin. I think they will turn out much better next time :).

What I Did: I wanted to make something creative to go with my Penguin Christmas tree and I had come across these glitter ornaments and I didn’t think they would be that hard and they weren’t I made 3 blue with snowflakes and 2 white glitter ornaments and i took less than hour including tying the ribbon and embellishments. So easy!!!

My Result:

Next Time I Will:† Turned out just as I had expected and hoped, one thing I would change is to use any other color glitter other than white did not cover as well as the blue.
