Pinterest Fail Strawberry Meatloaf Bread inspiration

What I Did: The strawberry bread in the photo looked delicious, so I had to try it! Unfortunately, mine came out slightly overcooked and much less attractive than the original! I tried to spruce it up with some homemade strawberry sauce… which is where things went terribly wrong! I ended up with strawberry bread that looked exactly like meatloaf with ketchup on top!

My Result:

Next Time I Will: On the bright side, it tasted great! If you could get past the initial impression that you were about to eat meatloaf for dessert, you were in for a treat! Next time, I’d reduce the cooking time by at least 5-10 minutes and I’d forget the strawberry “ketchup”! I might also puree the strawberries in the blender to achieve a more pink-colored bread!

Honestly, I don’t know if this is a fail. Shouldn’t something with meatloaf in the name look like meatloaf?

Except the original didn’t have meatloaf in the name…

You know, when I first saw the photo, I wondered what the fail was, because it looked like a perfectly magnificent meatloaf. Then I clicked on the story to see it was actually strawberry bread. 🙂 But if it tasted great, that’s what matters. Go you!

I’m going to remember this and try it next April Fool’s Day! The family will think we’re having meatloaf for dinner…. surprise!

That’s terrific! You could do one of those dessert/dinners and serve it with vanilla ice-cream “mashed potatoes” and green candy “peas.”

The original picture definitely has food coloring in it. You won’t get that shade of pink without it. I made strawberry bread last year and had the berries pretty well pureed and it just turned out brown like yours.

Like some others have said, now I really want to make strawberry bread with strawberry sauce as an April Fool’s thing next year. Too funny!

This made me laugh to tears!
