Fail: Hot Chocolate Ornaments

What I Did: This craft seemed extremely easy so I thought I would give it a try. I was very wrong! The powder went everywhere. I was covered in it and sadly the inside of my ornament was too! You could not see the sprinkles or chocolate chips, and the marshmallows looked dirty! I even used a funnel to get in the powder neatly.

My Result:

Next Time I Will: I would maybe try hot chocolate swiss mix. I used cocoa powder. Maybe that would help but otherwise I would not recommend this craft!

This is actually quite easy to make. Use a funnel for each layer and the tiny dehydrated marshmallows instead of using regular miniature ones.

Hot cocoa mix and cocoa powder aren’t the same thing… It’s no wonder it didn’t work out.

  3. AA

Hot cocoa mix has the sugar in it plus other ingredients such as dry milk which give it weight and consistency. Cocoa powder is an unflavored baking ingredient.

Use a long funnel and place the business end near the bottom before you start pouring the hot chocolate mix. Yeah, and use mix, not cocoa powder.

  5. Platypus

Kind of hard to see in the picture, but I don’t see any chocolate chips or sprinkles, which seem to be key in keeping the marshmallow from touching the mix. The marshmallows they used look like the giant ones, not the tiny ones.

It’s easy to see why this one didn’t work.
