What I Did: No matter how gently or slowly we used the blow-dryer, the heat required to melt the crayon also melted the ornament. It shrunk and disfigured as it melted.

My Result:

Next Time I Will: Someone else said it worked in the microwave but I’m not brave enough to melt a plastic blob in there.

The ornaments are supposed to be glass, not plastic….

Exactly what I was thinking! I was curious as to how she melted glass with a hairdryer

I hope she didn’t end up putting a plastic ornament in the microwave! If for some reason she really didn’t want to do glass balls (cats, small children, etc) you can get similar results by dripping and swirling paint inside, no heating necessary.

The first thing that it says in the original blog post is that you need to use glass ornaments, not plastic, : )

    Use glass, and crayola crayons…
