What I Did: I work in residential foster care and we have a strict budget for food. In effort to stretch the budget and have some fun with the kids, I thought we could try this with donated cake mix. Let’s just say our intended lesson on following directions turned into a lesson on not giving up and that things don’t always work out the way we want no matter how hard we work.

My Result:

Next Time I Will: Not sure it can be saved as not only did they fall over, but the batter didn’t fully cook inside the cones.

I’ve made these before you have to line the whole muffin tin with tin foil and poke a hole in each muffin tin to keep the cone upright while cooking…put each cone in the hole.

I’ve done that before, it worked just fine

I used a cupcake maker and just filled the holes with mixture, upended the cones onto the mixture and obviously) didn’t shut the lid. It woked fine (the mixture rose into the cone, but didn’t fill the cones all the way down (up?).

I just made these I took foil cake pens and turned them upside down and cut holes in them turned out great

I make these all the time using the ice cream cupcake baking pan set from Joy Cone Co. (comes w/nice carry case) and set on cookie sheet while baking, never had an issue. The tips others have provided above would serve just as well.

I made these by putting muffin liners into the muffin tin, added the batter then placed the cone on top. The batter puffed up, filled the cones and it created a flat surface to pipe the frosting onto when I took off the liners.

I made this and the same thing happened to me! The first batch I filled the cones 3/4 full but on the second batch I only filled them 1/2 full and they rose perfectly and didn’t spill over the sides at all…I had a whole other fail trying to frost them though!
