What I Did: They look so good on the picture! The only thing I changed was used 2 whole eggs instead of 4 egg whites, but it got so runny!

My Result:

Next Time I Will: I don’t know. Next time I’ll just make it a casserole and top with breadcrumbs. It tasted really good!

    There is a big difference between using whole eggs and egg whites. I would try this again and follow the directions.

    I’ve made these and they turned out fantastic – I wouldn’t call this a recipe fail – its a recipe reading comprehension fail.

    Using whole eggs instead of eggs whites was your mistake. The egg whites were to be beaten to stiff peaks. This would give the Tots the body to hold their shape. Just using whole eggs that won’t form stiff peaks will just leave a runny dish.

    You can’t submit something as a fail and say you didn’t follow the directions…

    There is great value in actually following the directions. It cracks me up when people say “well I just have NO IDEA what went wrong! I just changed this one little ‘ol thing!” Um yeah. There was probably a very good reason the directions said to do it a particular way. I understand that many folks just don’t want to be rule followers. And that’s ok. Just prepare to fail. Lol. I’m going to go make some meringue using whole eggs. I’ll let you know how awesome it is haha:)

    I had a similar fail the other day. It was for the cauliflower taco shells. Mine did not end up delicious.

    I don’t understand why commenters on here are so rude. A fail is a fail, regardless of whether or not the instructions were followed exactly. Lighten up people!

    I don’t like how people claim that it’s a recipe fail when they didn’t FOLLOW the recipe. There’s a huge difference between using 4 egg whites, beaten to stiff peaks, and using 2 whole eggs. Really? The only failure here is the poster’s failure to follow the directions.

    I followed the directions and my mixture was still runny. Any suggestions on how I can correct this problem? They tasted good but bc of the runniness I couldn’t get them crispy
